Another area of big change has been the addition of a modifiers system. Now things like mirroring, booleans, curves, and lattices, are modifiers which can be turned on or off; or applied.

The interface has undergone a major overhaul, improving the layout of buttons, menus, and improving access and visibility to a number of options.

A number of nice small improvements to the uv tools such as mirroring, and improved selection, and the ability to use the manipulator.

. Also thanks to the support of Googles Summer of Code and the hard work of Marc we have greatly improved quality for the boolean tools.

There have been some nice updates to the transform tools as well including a new tweak mode; additional constraint references; and a new orbiting option.

Python API has recieved a huge number of improvements and additions - a new Mesh module that is a 'thin wrapper' around Blender Mesh data for much greater speed; General improvements in the IPO Module; a completely redone armature API to keep up with the changes above; and a large number of clean ups and consistency improvements.

Finally we have had a large number of improvments to the Game Engine - of particular note is the new, fast, and stable Physics library Bullet; The ability to bake game physics to IPO curves more easily; and an update that allows using Blender texture system within the game engine.
